Doretta Bendalin
Artist Statement
My career as an artist has spanned the last 30 years. I worked on intricate designs in enamel for 12 of those years. That sense of pattern I practiced, conceiving and executing distinctive designs, permeates through all the artwork I execute now.
Traveling so much to so many locales around the world, there seems to be a more universal theme to my painting. Though I don’t design my paintings to be in any specific locale, they are definitely inspired by the beautiful scenery and places I’ve been.
I’ve been an artist since I was nine years old, but it’s only in the last few years that I’ve been creating my life as I would a piece of art. My main focus for this latest series of works is to transfer some of the immense sense of the joy of life I’ve found onto my paintings.
