Jean Nevin

Biography

Jean Nevin was born in Brooklyn, New York, and has a BA from the State University of New York at Albany. She lived in Indianapolis, Indiana, for many years, where she taught traditional printmaking and papermaking at the Indianapolis Art League (now the Indianapolis Art Center) and the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

Now living in Albuquerque, Jean has been creating on the computer exclusively since 2001 and is a co-founder of the Digital Fine Art Society of New Mexico. Her digital painting, “The Gathering,” was chosen for the cover of the February 2003 issue of ABQArts Magazine.

Of her work Jean says, “ I love painting with pixels! The computer gives me creative options far beyond those of a single traditional medium. It encourages endless exploration of an idea because I don’t have to be afraid that an experimental step will destroy what’s already working in a piece. I can save each state of an image and go back to an earlier state at any time.”

Jean is a signature member of the Society of Layerists in Multi Media and has been listed in Who’s Who of American Women since 1991.
