Suzy Smith is a Wyoming native, who relocated four years ago to New Mexico, after residing in
California for seven years.  She has been painting professionally since 1987, and has exhibited her
work around the country in various juried art shows, as well as one woman shows and group
exhibitions.

Her work was recently accepted to the “Realism Today” show at the John Pence Gallery in San
Francisco, accompanied by an article in American Artist Magazine.  Her paintings have also been
accepted to “The National Watercolor Society” 1999 show as well as the 1997 show, where she
won the “Grumbacher Gold Medallion Award,” and achieved signature status.

After many years of painting elusively in watercolor, Smith is now painting in both watercolor and
oil.  “I painted in watercolor for fifteen years and it was refreshing to pick up oil painting again.
There’s nothing quite like the smell and feel of painting in oil, yet each medium presents different
problems and different joys.”
